Gasly expects to improve over time

Pierre Gasly will step up to Red Bull for the 2019 season after just one full season at Toro Rosso and the driver admits improvement comes with experience but he doesn’t feel any added pressure.

Gasly drove alongside Brendan Hartley in 2018 but will now join Max Verstappen at Red Bull following the departure of Daniel Ricciardo to Renault. The Frenchman already has experience of driving a car with a Honda engine due to his year at Toro Rosso with Red Bull picking up the power unit for the upcoming season.

Despite Gasly’s relative inexperience, he’s aware that his performances should improve with time.

"Objectively, I'm in my second year in Formula 1, and experience is what makes you stronger,” Gasly told GMM news agency.

"After all, of course, you also have to have speed, while a lot of the work is to get to understand the car, adapt your driving style and get to work with engineers.

"But for my part, I'm just going to try to learn all this as soon as possible.

"My goal is to continue to progress as a driver, I still have a lot to learn,” added Gasly.
