Kevin Magnussen will have a new race engineer starting at the Singapore Grand Prix. Mark Slade returns to Formula 1 and for fans of Kimi Raikkonen that is a familiar name.

Magnussen started with Ed Regan on his return to Haas, but he has moved on to a role in the office. Magnussen was given Dominic Haines as a temporary replacement during the Triple Header in Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy, but Magnussen's new race engineer has now been found.

New engineer for Magnussen

With Slade, a familiar name returns to F1. Slade started at McLaren back in 1991 and worked there as a race engineer until 2010. He then worked at Renault, Mercedes, Lotus and finally again at Renault. In early 2022, his work for Renault as a Trackside Engineer came to an end and he was free again.

In F1, Slade had a particularly good click with Kimi Raikonnen, with whom he worked at McLaren and later at Lotus. With Magnussen, Slade will have another Scandinavian under his belt, but one who is a little less ice-cold than his predecessor. Compared to 'The Iceman', that's almost impossible to do.
