Yesterday Mercedes announced that Lewis Hamilton has changed his combustion engine. This means that the Briton will get a grid penalty of ten places during the race on Sunday. Istanbul Park is a circuit where overtaking is fairly easy, but Toto Wolff has his doubts.

Hamilton will start the race from P11 at best if he can get pole position in qualifying later today. Team principal Wolff is sceptical he can fight at the front from there.

Overtaking is quite difficult

At Sky Germany, Wolff says the following: "Valtteri [Bottas] certainly has a good chance today and also tomorrow in the race, but Lewis starting from tenth is then, of course, a completely different matter, because overtaking is also quite difficult." It is important that Hamilton grabs as many points as possible for the championship, as the gap to Max Verstappen is just two points.

"We saw that yesterday and tried it in the long runs as well and almost nothing works there", he reveals. Tomorrow we will see if Hamilton will actually have trouble overtaking from the middle of the grid. Normally though, the Mercedes is a car that suffers a lot from the hot air of cars upfront.
