Sergio Perez needed the summer break. In Britain and Hungary things didn't work out the way the Mexican had hoped, so he needed a few weeks off to recharge his batteries.

Perez was brought in by Red Bull Racing for 2021 as the second man alongside Max Verstappen. In Azerbaijan, Perez's victory and strong performance throughout the weekend seemed to have broken the deadlock, but his performance was disappointing after that. In the final race, Perez was forced out of the race by a mistake from Valtteri Bottas, after Perez spun in the sprint race in Britain.

Break for Perez

''The break came at exactly the right time. Some years you need the break more than others, and this year it came just when I needed it. Things just didn't go so well in the last two races, and now I could recover from that mentally'', Perez says according to Speedweek.com.

Perez knows he has a race-winning car at his disposal at Red Bull, and hopes to make more use of it. ''The second half of the season will definitely be a challenge. I think it will continue the way it ended. On some tracks we will be stronger, and others (Mercedes) will be ahead on other tracks. I hope we can continue the line and make it as exciting as it was during the first half of the season'', concludes the Red Bull driver.
