Valtteri Bottas did not perform at his best in the last race before the summer break, the Hungarian Grand Prix. The veteran Mercedes driver, who doesn't usually drive in the most risky manner, caused a chain collision in an attempt to make up places after a poor start. He is now waiting for his team to decide on their second driver for 2022.

The Finn is trying to keep the focus on maximising for results for his team, and thinks the updates from Silverstone won't be the last Mercedes has this season. "I think there is more in it," Bottas said in an interview with Hypebeast. "I think we haven't performed as well as we can as a team yet, but luckily there's still a long way to go."

Bottas hopes for more updates Mercedes

There was some confusion when Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff claimed the team would not be coming out with any more updates, a statement contradicted by technical director James Allison. "The fact is that we are no longer developing the current car at the factory, but there are still improvements coming. If you discover something in the wind tunnel it takes a while before you can get those parts on the track," explained Bottas.

"We had some new parts at Silverstone, and I hope more will arrive later. But at some point we will have to stop, because next year there is a big change coming and the team has to find the balance between performance of the car this year and next year," said the Mercedes driver.
