With only two weekends left to go, Formula E is slowly creeping towards the end of the season. Robin Frijns is in a good position in the championship with his second place behind Edoardo Mortara, while Nyck de Vries has slipped down to seventh place in the championship.

Dutchmen start at the back

For both Dutchmen it was important to perform well in the qualifying for the second E-Prix of New York. Frijns had to start in the first qualifying group, but disappointed with a fifth time of the six highest placed drivers in the championship. He left only Jen-Eric Vergne behind him, who didn't manage to set a time. During free practice this afternoon Frijns was fourth.

De Vries didn't do much better in the second group. There's some rain during this part of the qualifying, but De Vries didn't manage to break even and finished fifth in this group. Frijns will start twenty-first tonight, one place ahead of De Vries. Mortara, Frijns' main title contender, will start fourteenth.

Bird on pole position

The six fastest drivers then had to battle it out in Super Pole; Sam Bird, Pascal Wehrlein, Mitch Evans, Nick Cassidy, Andre Lotterer and Sergio Sette Camara. Bird set the fastest time, just ahead of Evans and Cassidy who were both within a tenth of a second. Cassidy was able to start from pole position in the first E-Prix of New York on Saturday. The E-Prix of New York starts at 19:00 tonight.
