Horner's comments make Andy Cowell's arrival at Red Bull increasingly unlikely

The big news in Formula 1 last week, was the arrival of Ben Hodgkinson. He was the second-in-command behind Any Cowell in Mercedes' engine department for many years and will help develop Red Bull's own engine from the end of 2022. But is there any chance he might bring his former boss along too?

"“Andy is a tremendously talented engineer", Christian Horner begins opposite Sky Sports F1 When asked about Cowell's possible arrival. "Everything that he’s achieved in Formula 1 speaks for itself. Andy is keen to pursue other activities, other ventures. That’s his priority at this point in time."

Horner doesn't rule out another brand name

While Horner isn't outright saying 'no', it does make Cowell's arrival seem increasingly unlikely. That's not to say that Red Bull's new project looks promising. During the interview, Horner stands in front of a construction site where perhaps Red Bull's biggest investment ever will go.

"We’re attracting some great talents and we’re looking forward to making some announcements in due course, as we build this venture. Probably the biggest investment Red Bull has made in Formula 1 since acquiring the team from Jaguar", Horner said.

Whether Red Bull will partner with a third party in the future, he leaves open the question. "We’re assembling a team to design and build an engine in a base on campus here and what’s that badged as, in the future, time will tell."
