Helmut Marko is happy with the support of the other teams and engine manufacturers. At La Gazzetta Dello Sport the 77-year-old advisor of Red Bul Racing expressed his thanks. The same medium reports that Honda will come up with more details about the takeover within two days. It also states that Ferrari is quite happy with the agreement reached on the engine freeze.

Honda to release details soon

"I thank the FIA, Liberty Media, the engine manufacturers and the other teams. They understood that it was necessary to act in order to contain the cost of the engines," Marko is quoted as saying by the pink sports newspaper. All involved answered the call of Liberty's CEO Stefano Domenicali to agree to Red Bull's proposal.

Now that everything is settled, it is expected that Honda will announce all details of the takeover operation within two days. It will then become clear what steps will be taken in the coming weeks and months.

Ferrari

One of the engine suppliers that was initially quite sceptical about the plans of the Austrian competitor was Ferrari. The Maranello-based team had a very mediocre 2020 on the engine front and there were fears that if the engine freeze took effect in 2022, they would be way behind Mercedes.

But according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Mattia Binotto's formation has completely turned the corner. In Italy, they are convinced that with the engine for 2021 they have already made up a large part of the ground. Moreover, they believe it is possible to make a further leap forward before the freeze.

Furthermore, an agreement in principle was reportedly reached last Thursday on artificial interventions. It should become possible to authorise interventions that could restore the balance of power if there were a dominant engine.
