Vettel: Move to Aston Martin "more a matter of curiosity"

At the end of his solidly chilled love affair with Ferrari and on the eve of his new adventure with Aston Martin, the much experienced German driver Sebastian Vettel gives a glimpse into the internal logic behind his team change.

Asked by Frankfurter Rundschau as to why he thinks a partnership with Aston Martin will be a success story, Vettel admits that a guarantee of success was not part of his consideration.

"It is more a matter of curiosity," he explains.“I am extremely excited about the project and am looking forward to it. Nobody can give you guarantees, but the term curiosity already contains a lot of positive energy. And you can trust them.”

The euphoria disappears

It is not illogical that after five years of collaboration with Ferrari, a new team is needed, especially in light of the Scuderia's underperformance last year. Vettel also explains that the emotional connection with the team came to exist on shaky ground: “It ended up not working for a variety of reasons. And then of course the euphoria also decreases.”
