Mercedes and Hamilton can breathe with relief: Wolff remains team boss in 2020

Toto Wolff stays on as team boss of Mercedes. That is what the Austrian team boss of Mercedes said in conversation with ORF. This brings Wolff back to his statements that he wanted to take a step back.

In 2020, Wolff said for a year that he had doubts about his future. The Austrian would like to spend more time at home and take a step back from his Formula 1 team. However, that will not happen in 2020, because opposite ORF, Wolff is clear about his future in sport.

Wolff will stay a while longer

''I think I will stay for another year and will indeed stay as team boss. I think the next two years could be an interesting situation and as long as I enjoy it, I want to keep doing it. I know that I will slowly have to train my replacement and he might be able to work alongside me next year'', says Wolff to ORF.

Wolff wanted to take a step back and still admits that this is the plan for the future, but those plans have changed for now. ''I don't know yet if it will take one, two or three years and I can't tell you who I'm looking for as my successor'', Wolff already told Sky Sports, where he said he would stay on as team boss.
