As many as two drivers set records last weekend at the Nürburgring. Kimi Raikkonen is now the man with the most races in F1 and Lewis Hamilton matched the record of Michael Schumacher, who had 91 GP victories behind his name. David Tremayne, F1 journalist, sees striking similarities between the two.

Tremayne finds it important that there are figures like Hamilton and Raikkonen in the sport, he says in his column on Formula1.com. "Every sport needs heroes like Lewis, and also anti-heroes like Kimi. They may not have much in common at first glance, but both say they don't care about records. But they're really connected in their way of driving".

"Both made mistakes"

He continues: "They both made their little mistakes: Lewis in 2008 when he was driving the back of Kimi's stationary car or when he recently knocked Albon off the track. Kimi when he drove Lewis off the track during the first lap at Silverstone in 2018 or last Sunday when he finished George Russell's race early."

"Above all, both have a beautiful driving style, with precision and courtesy. They always leave just enough room for their rivals to race. Their precision is always nice to see. After this Lewis will continue to build his record, and I hope we can enjoy another year of Kimi in Formula 1," Tremayne concluded.
