The fact that Formula 1 is a complex sport does not come as a surprise to many people. Since this season many teams are also protesting against cars of close competitors. For example, we saw Red Bull Racing question the Mercedes DAS system, and Renault protested against the alleged 'Mercedes copy' of Racing Point.

Mclaren team boss Andreas Seidl also sees that the complexity of Formula 1 hasn't diminished in recent years, he says to racefans.net: "We have to acknowledge that this sport is quite complex. But at the same time it is important that Formula 1 and the FIA ensure that we all compete according to the same regulations. That is the key with the competition in which we are in".

Placing stewards with the teams?

Seidl believes that all teams should give maximum support to the FIA in doing 'police work' because "we all have no interest in what is going on at the moment with this negativity of protests".

In order to promote the police work of the FIA, Seidl proposes to expand the FIA so that a steward can be placed with each team to check that all regulations are complied with. But whether that proposal will be supported by all teams remains to be seen.
