"Sainz has already had talks with Ferrari in 2019'

Sebastian Vettel will leave Ferrari at the end of 2020 and that will open doors for several drivers. However, there is one driver who has a lead, as Carlos Sainz is said to have already had conversations with the Italians.

There was already contact

That's what the Spanish newspaper Marca reports in a new article. According to the Spanish medium, there has already been contact between Sainz and Ferrari in 2019, since so many contracts were about to expire. However, Sainz has already had preliminary talks with McLaren, who were put on hold by the coronavirus.

Ferrari's statement has shown that both parties did not see the future with each other and thus Marca seems to be right that Vettel has turned down a contract offer from Ferrari. For example, Vettel would have had two offers from Ferrari, but for a much lower salary than in his previous contract.

Sainz to Ferrari

According to Marca, Sainz will not think twice about going to Ferrari. The Spanish medium knows that he would like to go to Ferrari to appear more often on the podium and compete for the victory. Therefore, the presence of the future leader Charles Leclerc would not deter Sainz at all.

It is of course questionable whether Ferrari has spoken at all with Sainz and if so, whether they have not done the same with several drivers. Daniel Ricciardo is also a good candidate and Marca also mentions Fernando Alonso and Nico Hulkenberg as great contenders for the seat at Ferrari.
