Lewis Hamilton is now the top driver in Formula 1, but also the Briton started as a young rookie in the sport with many doubts and criticisms. The Brit has some advice for today's young drivers.

"When I was younger, I had a very hard time with defeats. I took that very personally and had a tendency to really punish myself. Now I know that mistakes are a chance to get better. If you want to be successful in this sport, you have to be passionate and have the mentality to win. Young drivers want to challenge older drivers and make their mark, but being faster than people with experience is never easy'', Hamilton talks to photographer Rankin.

Hamilton misses racing

Hamilton himself never used to believe he would make it to the top, but his father Anthony was a good motivator. ''He pushed me to the top and in that respect I was lucky with my father'', said Hamilton, who misses racing during the corona crisis enormously. He would love to go back out there.

''It's the first time since I was eight that I haven't started a season. If this is what you've been doing your whole life and it's actually your life, then that's a big hole what's left if you can't do it. But now I do have time to reflect on my life and set new goals,'' the six-time world champion concludes.
