In the F1 world it is said that driving without an audience is the solution to resume the season. For the DTM this is certainly not the case. For example, leader Gerhard Berger states that there will be absolutely no driving in this race class without an audience.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is forbidden to be together with more than 100 people. This only applies to the most flexible countries, so a racing season with an audience is not in for the time being. Berger tells us that a racing season without an audience is not going to happen in the DTM either.

In Formula 1 they are looking at the possibilities to continue the season without an audience. The fact that there is no audience is an ideal outcome for the sport to continue anyway. Of course financial reasons are the most important and there will be a lot more money in F1 than in the DTM.

Our customers are fans

With his statement Berger completely ranks behind the fans and emphasizes how important they are. In conversation with the former F1 driver on ServusTV, the former F1 driver opens: "Our customers are fans. If the fans aren't there, there won't be any racing either".

Of course the Austrian hopes that they can drive again as soon as possible: "At the moment I think everyone understands that we can't bring 50000 to 100000 people together in one place. I want things to be picked up as soon as possible and hope we can keep up financially".

Berger concludes: "We simply have to be careful not to slip into the next crisis after the corona crisis".
