On Tuesday, the Formula 2 drivers have one day left to fully prepare for the upcoming season. But how did they fare on the second day of the winter test?

In contrast to yesterday, as soon as the signal was given that the drivers could take to the track, almost the entire circuit was immediately full of cars. Sean Gelael set the fastest lap of the session early on, but the Indonesian driver was soon beaten. Artem Markelov set the fastest time of the day a few times during the morning session.

He starts his seventh season in the class below Formula 1. In those years, he has managed to win nine races and recorded a P2 finish in the 2017 drivers standings.  This season he finally wants to become champion with BWT HWA Racelab.

In the final phase of the morning session, however, he had to let two drivers pass. The also experienced Luca Ghiotto and his countryman Nikita Mazepin. Mazepin was ultimately the fastest with a time of 1:42.825, but the top three were insanely close together.

Sirotkin invades stoneware

In the afternoon it was again an experienced Russian who showed his speed. Sergey Sirotkin came in for Christian Lundgaard at ART Grand Prix. The Dane is currently trapped in a hotel in Tenerife due to the discovery of the coronavirus in one of the guests.

Sirotkin had to stay ahead of the super-fast Chinese Guangyu Zhou. The talent from the junior program had already shown some good results last season and seems to want to compete in 2020 for the top rankings.

At the last minute, however, it was Jehan Daruvalu who was able to drive the absolute fastest time. The Indian from the Dutch MP Motorsport, like his teammate Nobuharu Matsushita, spent the whole day in midfield, but managed to squeeze something special out in the last minute.
