Hulkenberg reflects on "bitter" Russian Grand Prix

Nico Hulkenberg has described his P10 finish at the Russian Grand Prix as "bitter" despite beating his teammate all weekend and drawing level with Ricciardo on 34 points.

Hulkenberg got the better of Daniel Ricciardo all weekend but after qualifying seventh, a result of P10 was hard to take for the German.

"It's not bittersweet, just bitter. It started with a bad start when I lost about three or four places. I raced myself back and won a position. We wanted to do an undercut, but the slow pit stop threw us back again," Hulkenberg said as quoted by Motorsport.

"Every tenth matter in midfield. If you lose a few seconds it is serious, so I had to push a lot and that didn't help my tires at the end of the stint."

Hulkenberg suffered from the virtual safety car brought out by Sebastian Vettel.

"Here too we were unlucky. I think two others were again passing by. It was a bit disappointing all the time and that is a shame because the car deserves much better. I had a good pace but could never really show it, because I was always stuck behind someone."
