Williams driver Robert Kubica has been confirmed to participate in tomorrow's Azerbaijan Grand Prix, as the Polish driver suffered a big hit in his FW42 during qualifying.

During his second run in Q1, Kubica mistimed turn 8, a tight left hander into the castle section, as he clipped the barriers at the apex of the corners and subsequently rammed into the barriers at the other side of the track.

It left the car in bits, and with Williams struggling for parts because of their many accidents and limited resources, it was rumoured they might not be able to get spare parts for Kubica to participate in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix tomorrow. However, the Grove-based team countered that.

“We are currently working to fix the front end of Robert’s car,” Williams said in a statement.

“We will replace both front corners, brakes and steering column on his car following the accident, but we have replacement parts available for all of this.”
