Norris thinks DNF is a 'shame': 'Just careless driving'

4 May - 20:00

The sprint race did not last for long for Lando Norris. The British driver was involved in a crash in Turn 1, and had to retire as he got hit by Lance Stroll's Aston Martin because of a domino effect. Norris talked about the incident and also looked forward to the rest of the weekend in the state of Florida.

Lando Norris was very disappointed with getting knocked out of the sprint so early on. "I just got hit, that's all I saw," he told Viaplay. "There was no space on the inside, so I went to the outside. There was nothing I could do, it's just some careless driving from others, so a shame, but it's the way it is sometimes."

Norris happy with his car

On the other hand, the Briton is happy with McLaren's new upgrades and looks forward to the rest of the weekend. He underlined that his car and no changes are necessary. "Same [car], [no changes], the car has been very good all weekend, I think we're looking forward to having a good race today. So yes, a shame, because I think we could have still scored just a few points, and a few points would make a good difference, but nothing I could have done, so I'm looking forward to it."

He concluded: "The car is good, we're happy, we just crack on and do the best we can."
