Bob Bell has announced his departure from Alpine and not much later it is clear why: the experienced top technical executive is making the move to Aston Martin where he will work as Executive Director - Technical.

On Wednesday morning, it became clear that Alpine had lost another experienced staff member. Bell worked for Alpine for years, Renault, and even in the Benetton era, but has now closed the door. Bell was involved with Alpine part-time in the last few years as a consultant. Now it appears he will remain active in F1 after all.

Who will Aston Martin bring in?

Aston Martin have presented Bell as the new Executive Director - Technical. With this, he will further strengthen the management team. Bell had his greatest success as Renault's technical director in 2005 and 2006, with the two world titles for Fernando Alonso. He will join Dan Fallows (CTO) and Andrew Green (Technical Director) at Aston Martin.

"I am delighted to welcome Bob Bell to Aston Martin Aramco. This is a key appointment to ensure we are optimising everything we do as a team and focusing on the right performance areas. Bob’s track record in the sport speaks for itself and his experience will help us continue to make steps forward on the exciting journey we are on," stated Mike Krack in the press release.

"I have been impressed by the progress Aston Martin Aramco has made in recent years. The opportunity to play my part in that journey is incredibly exciting and I look forward to working with the great technical leaders at Silverstone. The scale and ambition of this project is highly motivating. I am a racer, and I see the hunger and determination powering this team. I look forward to playing my part with Mike and the rest of the team," Bell said.
