The all-female W Series has reported the demand of the series, with 100+ applications in its first month post its launch.

The all-female racing championship was announced in October with support from former F1 driver David Coulthard and designer Adrian Newey.

The championship is all set to feature on the DTM support bill at numerous rounds of F1 next year.

The winner of the series will receive $500,000 towards their progression in motorsport.

W Series have released an update email confirming the process has received a lot of attention through more than 100 applications in the first month since its launch.

"With 2018 coming to a close, preparations for our first ever race season are well underway," the email said. "Cars are being built, tracks being prepared and discussions with our friends at DTM are in full swing.

"The process to find our highly-anticipated 2019 driver line-up has begun, with over 100 applications from drivers received so far.

"We will be announcing the 2019 qualifying line-up son, with successful applicants taken on a thorough training programme centring on driving techniques, technical engineering approaches, media skills and more."

The first race of the W Series will take place in May, in support of DTM at the Hockenheimring.
