After it became clear that the FOM decided not to allow Andretti into Formula 1 at the moment, talks between the team and Renault regarding a deal for a customer engine are at a standstill. So says the team boss of Alpine F1 team to Motorsport.com

Andretti Autosport had, and still has, ambitions to add to the grid as an 11th team. The FIA agreed, only the FOM (Formula One Management) and other F1 teams disagreed. The team currently lacks any added value according to them. Andretti was in talks with Renault regarding a customer engine, Renault has now put those talks on hold. They want to start negotiating again when it is 100 per cent certain that Andretti will compete in Formula 1.

Renault deal uncertain

Bruno Famin, also team boss at Alpine in 2024, said there is no official agreement between the two parties yet: ''We had a pre-contract with Andretti and after that nothing happened. At the moment there is no question of participation, so we will have to see what the future will look like.'' Should the American ever participate in Formula 1 again, their preference is for Renault's engines. The hope lies in a collaboration with Cadillac. Although such a collaboration would only start from 2028.
