Perez joins major international sporting stars for special championship

20 January - 07:00

Sergio Perez loves speed. Of course, Red Bull Racing's Mexican is the vice-world champion in Formula 1, these days he is also the owner of his own racing team. Not on the track, but on the water. Team Perez will take part in the competition in 2024, which visits places like Jeddah, Monaco, and Rotterdam.

This E1 Series is a class of electrically powered racing boats. Each of the teams has a prominent affiliate. Besides Sergio Perez, these include tennis player Rafael Nadal, former footballer Didier Drogba and former NFL star Tom Brady, as well as DJ Steve Aoki, cricketer Virat Kohli, singer Marc Anthony and Bolivian entrepreneur Marcelo Claure.

They will lead the teams that will compete for the title in seven races. These include races in Venice, Monaco, Hong Kong and Jeddah. Perez might not be able to travel to all races because of the F1 schedule, but it might be possible for him to visit in Rotterdam. This is because no Formula 1 Grand Prix is scheduled on the same weekend.
