Max Verstappen has settled once and for all whether Red Bull Racing's car is set up for him. Speaking to Auto, Motor und Sport, Verstappen explained the difference between a setup and the development of the car.

With such a dominant performance as Max Verstappen's in 2023, you always get questions. Some think Verstappen is simply a unique talent, while others think Sergio Perez got far too little out of the RB19. For Verstappen, it matters little what people ultimately say about him.

"I am not interested in other people's opinions. You don't know our car. I just try to do my best every time. I don't know how dominant this car is compared to other cars. Nobody knows that," the Red Bull driver is adamant.

Is Red Bull making the car especially for Verstappen?

Another theory that often surfaces at such a stage is that the team is making the car special for one driver. Those stories were there in the era when Michael Schumacher dominated at Ferrari and now that Verstappen is dominating with his RB19, you hear the same rumours.

"I tune the car in a way I like and another driver does it in his way. The engineers are there to make the car faster. They are not there to make the car comfortable for me. I don't even know what my driving style is. I adapt to the car to be as fast as possible. That is the most important thing for a very good Formula 1 driver. Adapting to what you get from the team."

Verstappen has managed that extremely well. With the RB19, Verstappen won no less than 19 out of 22 Grands Prix in 2023. In doing so, Verstappen won more races than anyone else ever did in a single season and also broke the percentage of races won in a single season.
