Jos and Max Verstappen won't race together: 'He doesn't like that'

Max Verstappen has often expressed his desire to do another race with his father. Jos Verstappen himself thinks otherwise. The former F1 driver does not think it would be wise to enter a race together.

With 107 Grands Prix in Formula 1 behind his name and two podium finishes achieved, you would say that Jos still achieved a lot behind the wheel. This is also reflected in his performances in rally driving, where he has already won several races. Still, Jos considers himself "too old" to race with Max.

Why Jos no longer wants to race with Max Verstappen

"[The level Max] puts in, it’s something crazy. That’s why I’m feeling too old to do that. I know him. I know how I was when I was that young. If he races and competes in different categories, he wants to win as well. To drive it as an old man who’s maybe one to 1.5 seconds too slow. He doesn’t like that. And I wouldn’t like that," Jos said in a conversation with PlanetF1.

Jos does not believe Max will get angry with his father any time soon, but he would get comments thrown at his head that he needs to do better. That's why Jos would rather not do it. The 24 Hours of Le Mans is a race Max is known to love to win. In that race, Jos and Max could race together, but given these statements, that does not seem to be happening any time soon.
