Former Formula 1 driver Esteban Gutierrez has revealed that he's very keen on a comeback, as the Mexican is eyeing a seat at Williams for 2019, with the team still having one seat up for grabs next to George Russell.

Gutierrez, who still is only 27 years old, was active in F1 for three years. He started at Sauber at the Australian Grand Prix in 2013, and had his last race to date for Haas in Abu Dhabi in 2016. He drove a total of 60 Grands Prix.

He's ready for a comeback now though after taking two seasons off.

“I am working very hard, I’ve been preparing a lot this year, I am very motivated," Gutierrez was quoted by GrandPrix247 at the Mexican Grand Prix.

“I’ve been working with Mercedes, a very professional team, actively on the simulator, doing different things, and I am really positive about the future.”

When it comes to picking a team in F1, the Mexican isn't very picky. He doesn't mind driving at Williams, the team that has struggled most out of every team on the grid this season as they're in last place in the constructors' championship.

“It is a great team. It is one of the most respected teams in Formula 1. I think they’ve had difficult years, but the people they have and the team they are I am pretty sure they can recover pretty well.”

“I feel like I have a lot to give in Formula 1, and I am very motivated for it. I have chances, I am here. At the beginning of the year I was not involved with a Formula 1 team and now I am with Mercedes, which is at the moment one of the most important teams in Formula 1.”
