Cadillac has signed up as an engine supplier in the king class of motorsport. Self-designed power units from General Motors will initially go only to Andretti, which may make its debut in Formula 1. In any case, the Americans already have approval from the FIA. FIA president Mohammed ben Sulayem is happy with the new supplier.

"Delighted with the news that GM have registered as a PU supplier for FIA F1," Ben Sulayem wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "This is a further endorsement of the @FIA's PU regulations. The presence of iconic American brands Andretti and GM is good for the sport," the FIA man informed.

So Andretti's project already has FIA approval, but as of now, it will depend on all commercial talks that the American constructor has to have with the Formula 1 organisation. Among other things, talks must be held on compensation for the 10 other F1 teams, which would suffer financially from Andretti's possible arrival. Among other things, prize money would have to be divided by 11, instead of 10.
