Last Monday, it was announced that Andretti-Cadillac's application for a Formula One licence was approved by the FIA. The US team is now awaiting approval from the FOM and the other 10 constructors. Lawrence Stroll, team owner of Aston Martin, gave his opinion on a possible entry of Andretti into Formula 1 during the press conference of Aston Martin's participation in the WEC.

Andretti is the only team that had applied to join the Formula 1 grid that passed the FIA's inspection. Formula 1 announced after this ruling that they noted the conclusions drawn by the FIA, and would now make their own assessment.

Stroll does not hope for Andretti's arrival

Lawrence Stroll, however, thinks it is unnecessary to have an 11th team on the grid: "I think F1, at the moment, the business is on fire, the sport has never been in a better place, and I believe if it isn't broken, you don't need to fix it. So, I'm a strong believer that it's working really well with 10 teams right now, and believe that's the way it should stay."
