Ferrari have won just one race in 2023 so far, and after a big step forward in 2022, they were secretly hoping for more this year. With six races to go, however, it will be difficult to match the three wins of 2022, especially considering Red Bull Racing's dominance in Japan was back. In 2024, Ferrari obviously hopes to take another step forward, and Charles Leclerc hints that this will be with a very different car from the SF-23.

Ferrari finds way up with SF-23

At the start of the season, Ferrari struggled with the car. Their 2023 machinery was unpredictable and went through Pirelli tyres too quickly. However, those problems now seem to have been resolved, and the free practice sessions at Zandvoort and Monza were crucial in this, Leclerc tells RaceFans.net. "There were things that we retested in Monza to make sure that it was really the case, and it was."

2024-Ferrari will be very different

At Barcelona this year, Ferrari already threw around the concept of the current car. Here, the SF-23 suddenly looked a bit more like Red Bull's RB19 in terms of sidepods, although the distinctive 'bathtub' in the sidepods was largely retained. The 2024 car will be very different again, according to Leclerc, the Monegasque told Medium.

"The 2024 project is very different to the car we have this year. To be honest, for now, I don’t have the vision yet because it’s still very early days. I only report Fred [Vasseur] words that we’re saying that the project is very different for next year." According to rumours, Ferrari is already very far along with the development of the new car for 2024 and is even ahead of schedule.
