Regularly, Thibaut Courtois can be found in the Formula 1 paddock. For instance, the Belgian was present in Monaco when the Grand Prix was held there earlier this season. The Real Madrid goalkeeper has never made a secret of being a great lover of motorsport. His passion for racing goes so far that he has decided to start his own team.

Roberto Merhi joins

Courtois will focus on talent development, opting for an entry into Formula 4. The name of his team is TC Racing. Former Formula 1 driver Roberto Merhi, meanwhile, has been recruited to act as a consultant. The Spaniard drove a few races in Formula E (for Mahindra) last season. In the past, he competed in Formula 1 for Marussia.

It is not yet known which young drivers will compete for TC Racing. It is also not yet clear in which championship the team will run. The choice is between France, Great Britain, Germany, China, Italy, Japan, Spain, Southeast Asia, United Arab Emirates, India and Brazil. All these championships are run under the auspices of the FIA. Only in 2014, F4 championships were run for the first time.

Several current F1 drivers took their first steps in motorsport in Formula 4. Of the current field, Lance Stroll is the only one to win a title. He was the best in Italy in 2014.
