Max Verstappen is chasing a special record at the Canadian Grand Prix. If the Dutch driver manages to win the race, he will match Ayrton Senna's number of race victories: 41.

Verstappen was impossible for anyone to keep up with in the changing conditions on Saturday. The Dutchman topped the timesheet in every session and took his fifth pole this season, making Verstappen the favourite for the race, where he is chasing a unique record.

Verstappen on record hunt

Should Verstappen win the Canadian Grand Prix, he will match F1 legend Senna's number of race victories. The Brazilian reached a total of 41 wins in 162 Grands Prix. Verstappen took just slightly more races for it, 171, but could also reach the same number of wins as the three-time world champion.

At 25, Verstappen still has a long career ahead of him and is likely to climb further up this list. Above Senna are Alain Prost (51), Sebastian Vettel (53), Michael Schumacher (91) and Lewis Hamilton (103). With the RB19 at Verstappen's disposal, it is probably a matter of time before he manages to overtake the others.
