Fourteen times we would see Formula 2 action in 2023, Formula 3 10 times. However, it has now become clear that the Grand Prix that was to be held at Imola will not be made up. Bruno Michel, CEO of both racing classes, confirmed this through a press release on Tuesday.

The Imola weekend could not take place due to extreme weather conditions. The heavy rain caused flooding, completely flooding the Formula 2 and Formula 3 paddock. In addition, all emergency services were needed to come to the aid of residents of the Emilia-Romagna region, making it unjustifiable to race.

No replacement for Imola

It was considered whether an additional F2 and F3 weekend could be added to the calendar, but in the end it was decided not to do so. What the exact considerations are will not be disclosed.

"Firstly, I am very sorry that we could not race at Imola this year, but this was clearly the right decision and our thoughts go out to those affected by this," Michel kicks off. "Since then we have looked at various options, but in the end we decided that we will not add another venue to the calendar this year. With a total of thirteen F2 rounds and nine F3 events, I think we still have enough races to deliver two great and competitive seasons."
