FIA president Jean Todt says that he would have no issues with expanding the Formula One calendar beyond the 21 races it currently has. Speaking ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, Todt explained that he saw no issues in the calendar growing to 23 races per season.

Since Liberty Media has taken over Formula One, rumours about a race in Miami have been rampant despite setbacks earlier this year and a race in Singapore looks to be on the way also with local government officials keen for the race to go ahead.

Todt said that any expansion to the F1 calendar could be a good thing and that if F1 does add to the current calendar, he saw no problems with that.

"At the moment 21 I think is good. Whether 22, 23, 20, I would not have any problem with that," he told RaceFans.

Currently, there are 21 races on the calendar, but after next season F1 could see Hockenheim, Silverstone and possibly Monza slip off of the schedule and in their places Miami, Vietnam and other venues could make their debut.

Recently, fan favourite circuit Suzuka announced that they had reached a deal with Liberty Media to extend their contract with F1 to 2021, a move that many heralded but if iconic venues continue to fall by the wayside for more street circuits, drivers and fans could be asking questions of the new owners.
