Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini has called for the Imola Grand Prix to be postponed this weekend, saying that relief efforts are more important now. Italy's Emilia-Romagna region is being hit by severe weather resulting in numerous floods and evacuations.

The area where the Imola circuit is located, among others, is ravaged by severe weather. Huge amounts of rain have fallen, flooding streets and even motorways. The Formula 1 paddock in Imola is also under water, so the question is whether the Grand Prix will go ahead this weekend.

Call for GP postponement

Deputy prime minister and infrastructure minister Salvine has called on Sky Sports for a postponement of the Grand Prix this weekend. "Postpone the Imola GP, let's devote ourselves to relief efforts," Salvini said. The storm has already claimed several lives and many people have had to leave their homes. "Let's dedicate ourselves to relief efforts," the minister stressed again. Rain is also forecast for the weekend.
