Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko has acknowledged that Red Bull is unlikely to have the fastest engine. At Heute, the Austrian warned that that honour is likely to go to Ferrari.

Red Bull Racing looks to continue last season's dominant streak this year. At the opening race in Bahrain, Max Verstappen was unbeatable, and Sergio Perez also faced little opposition. And although everyone in the team warns that the season is long and a lot can still happen, there is generally an optimistic mood at Red Bull.

Fastest engine does not lie with Red Bull

Yet Marko does see one clear area in which Red Bull is definitely not the best: the engine. "I think Ferrari has the fastest engine at the moment," said Marko. For now, however, it has not given Ferrari anything. And so Marko follows up his remark with: "What good is the fastest engine if it is unreliable?" The old adage applied here as well: to finish first, you first have to finish.

Ferrari saw Charles Leclerc drop out early after a reasonably good start because the engine quit on him. The Ferrari driver who did manage to finish the race, Carlos Sainz, had to make do with fourth place after losing his podium spot to Fernando Alonso.
