Lance Stroll missed winter testing due to an injury to his wrist after a cycling accident, but the Canadian driver is fit enough to step into the AMR23 this weekend. In Bahrain, Stroll tells in front of Auto, Motor und Sport that he has had surgery and that the pain is getting less and less.

Through minor surgery, doctors straightened the fracture early this week. From then on, Stroll started training again, including in the simulator in Britain at Aston Martin. "The first two days were tough, but after that things got better and better. Every hour of rest helps," said Stroll, who suffers most from his right hand.

The 24-year-old driver is confident he can finish this weekend and not make his injury worse. He states that if there had been any risk of more damage by getting into the car now, he would not have done it.

Stroll underwent tests

In the simulator, Aston Martin increased the steering forces last week to test whether Stroll could last all sessions. Moreover, bumps and kerbs were specifically added to the laps he completed, this to get as realistic a picture as possible of whether Stroll is fit enough. Fernando Alonso's teammate dare not say with 100 per cent certainty that he will also be in the Aston Martin on Sunday, but he is assuming so.
