Haas saves $250,000 through this tweak

Formula One team Haas have made a surprising adjustment for the upcoming season. Instead of the usual six or more seats at the pit wall, they have reduced this number to three. This not only saves $250,000 but is also a way to reduce their carbon footprint.

Haas found out that not all seats on the pit wall were actually used during races. Instead of incurring unnecessary costs for seats that were not needed, the team decided to downsize the pit wall and focus on using the available space efficiently.

On top of this, this $250,000 could be very useful for developing the car. For a big team like Red Bull Racing or Mercedes, such an amount won't really be of value, but for some smaller teams, like Haas, this is thus very useful.

"It's [pit wall] deliberately small because they found out they had a couple of free seats last year that they never really used. They reckon, about $250,000 has been saved in shipping costs by reducing the size of their pitwall," David Croft explained on Sky Sports. 

Haas saves a lot of money

This decision also has sustainability benefits. Making the pit wall smaller reduces the material and energy costs needed to produce and transport extra seats to the races. This means Haas has a smaller carbon footprint and makes a significant contribution to F1's goals.

The reduction of the pit wall is also an important step for Haas to continue to adapt to the rapidly changing Formula 1 world. The team had to adapt to new regulations and cost-cutting measures to ensure it remains competitive in an increasingly challenging sport.
