On 11 February, Scuderia AlphaTauri presented its car for the 2023 season. It remains to be seen how the AT04 will do this year, but presentations like this always bring optimism. Therefore, Technical director Jody Egginton speaks positively about the upcoming season.

2022 had some bumps in the road for the Italian team. Due to an overweight car and drivers who were often did not find their flow, AlphaTauri had to pay with a ninth place in the constructors' championship. There is still work to be done.

The 2023 budget cap

On the official AlphaTauri website Egginton answers several questions regarding his expectations for this year. The 2023 budget cap is also addressed. The Briton indicates that an even tighter budget for teams will not make things easier (as it has dropped to $135 million in 2023), but also that it does not worry him too much. AlphaTauri, he says, is geared up for it. This is because the budget was already scaled back from $145 million to $140 million last year.

"We have gained a lot of expertise [last] year and some aspects of the planning process do not need to be significantly revised. This allows us to use available resources more efficiently and adjust the cost cap to the situation. In any case, we are strongly focused on maximising our performance with the available budget, regardless of the amount of money at our disposal," the technical director said.
