Max Verstappen showed what he is capable of in Formula 1 in recent years with two world titles in a row. Oliver Rowland thinks it would be a different story in Formula E, however. The driver is convinced the Dutchman would struggle in this class of motorsport.

The 30-year-old Briton has been active in Formula E for many years and achieved his best result in the 2019/2020 season by securing fifth place. According to Rowland, the level each season is very high and cannot be compared to the qualities in Formula 1.

"I think Max [Verstappen] is the standout in F1 at the moment in terms of pace, talent and just natural ability," he told Total-Motosport.com. "It’s easy to say when he’s winning, I rate the others highly, especially the younger guys like Charles [Leclerc] and George [Russell]."

Rowland thus emphasises that there is a lot of talent running around in Formula 1. Nevertheless, he expects that Leclerc, Russell, as well as Verstappen, would struggle if they made the switch to Formula E. "They wouldn’t come here and dominate. I know that, I’ve raced against them and I know their level."

New Formula E season coming up

This weekend, Rowland's season kicks off with a race in Mexico, after which Formula E will continue towards Saudi Arabia, India and South Africa in the coming weeks. Rowland will be in action this calendar year for Mahindra Racing, where he was also under contract last race year.
