Max Verstappen has confirmed that he has given interviews for the latest series of the Netflix series Drive to Survive, which will be available on the streaming service early next year.

From March, the fifth season of the highly successful Netflix series will already be available on the streaming service. The documentary series has undoubtedly contributed to the popularity of the top class of motorsport. Yet there have also been criticisms of the successful series, including the over-dramatisation of certain events. Verstappen, for instance, was clear in his feelings about the show when he stated last year that he would not be involved in the making of season four, and recently imposed conditions on the producer to be able to be part of the latest season.

Storyline

The show bypassed the absence of that season's world champion by making the main storyline less about his title battle with Lewis Hamilton and instead focusing on the simmering rivalry between Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and Red Bull team boss Christian Horner.
This time, the producers were not waiting for a season without the now two-time world champion. It now seems the producers have gone out of their way to keep the Dutchman happy in order to include him in the show after all.

Green light

Verstappen recently gave the green light to allow the cameras back in and took part in interviews with the makers of the Netflix series. In an interview with GQ as part of their Men of the Year series, he told the interviewer that he had participated in a filming session with the film crew that same day.
"It's just good to understand what we both want from each other, right?" he said. "I think the interview we did was good, so... I just wanted to keep it real. You know, no fake stuff. No overhyped things, because that's not how I am. I just want it to be to the point and my opinion and how I see things. Of course, we still need to see the end product, but it all sounds good."
