Charles Leclerc acknowledges that most mistakes during this F1 season were made by his team Ferrari on Sundays. The Monegasque's main goal for next season is to focus on that, but that different aspects will also be worked on by him and his team.

Leclerc started last season very strongly if you look at the statistics. Indeed, the Monegasque driver was allowed to start the race from the front row 14 times in 2022. Of these, nine were from pole position. The Ferrari driver had 'only' 11 podiums and three wins. Despite some avoidable mistakes by Leclerc himself, for example in the races at Imola and especially at Paul Ricard, it was mainly Ferrari that caused many setbacks on Sunday. Indeed, Ferrari has often left something to be desired in terms of strategies (Monte Carlo, Silverstone and Budapest being the most obvious examples) and on other occasions (Barcelona and Baku) it was reliability that failed Leclerc.

Different aspects

In an interview with The Race Leclerc looks back on the entire championship in which he became vice-world champion. In the interview, Leclerc pointed to the goal Ferrari will focus on next season to raise the level. "Our main goal now is to become a better team on Sunday," stressed Leclerc, who is focusing his thoughts on the 2023 season,"You have to have good conversations, good strategy, good communication and good tyre management. It's all one entity and I think step by step we are working on all those different aspects."
