Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso thinks Max Verstappen 's championships in the new technical era will remain well in everyone's memory. The Spaniard thinks the Dutchman is the best driver and says the title is more than deserved.

Unlike last season, there is no doubt in the F1 paddock about the deservedness of Verstappen's title. "It is richly deserved. Red Bull Racing is by far the best team and Max the best driver. He is beyond category," stated two-time champion Alonso in conversation with theNOS.

Unbeatable machine

Alonso speaks more often in praise of Verstappen and his Red Bull Racing team: "Together they have become an almost unbeatable machine. Their progression is impressive." Alonso looks back on the season and says he has actually hardly seen a fight. He indicates that even on weekends when the car was not superior, Red Bull still managed to win. In addition, the Spaniard believes Ferrari gave a lot out of their hands. "It's a special title for Max," he adds.

Natural talent

The Alpine driver thinks that the era in which Verstappen became champion will therefore be well remembered by everyone: "He is the first champion since the rules changed a lot, with totally new cars. People are going to remember that. Max is a driver who can adapt very quickly. You also notice that in changing weather conditions. He is immediately there. That is a gift. You can't learn that. Only natural talents have that."

With his second world title, Verstappen has equalled Alonso. "That's why he really belongs among the all-time greats now," the Spaniard jokes in conclusion.
