Max Verstappen dominated the Hungarian Grand Prix in a weekend where Ferrari were the favourites and has increased his lead over Charles Leclerc to eighty points. The Dutchman praised his team and especially Hannah Schmitz, who is responsible for Red Bull Racing's strategic decisions.

Red Bull Racing got off to a good start by changing strategy just before the start. The team planned to start on hard tyres, but both Verstappen and Sergio Perez struggled to find grip even on the soft tyre, so the plan was abandoned.

Red Bull made right choices

"I’m very happy that we did because the hard tyre was really tough and you could see that with Charles and Carlos," Verstappen said in conversation with F1.com. After Red Bull opted to abandon the hard tyre at the start, that compound was not considered for the rest of the race.

At the pitstops, Red Bull again made the difference by making the right choices at the right times. Verstappen therefore has high praise for his team, and today for one person in particular: chief strategist Hannah Schmitz. "I think we have a lot of good guys in the team, and girls as well; today I think Hannah, our strategist, was insanely calm, and she is very good," said the reigning world champion.
