Max Verstappen is in great shape in the championship, where his lead over Charles Leclerc is now 63 points. However, the Red Bull Racing driver stresses that the RB18 must become faster to stay ahead of Ferrari, especially over one lap.

Speaking to Viaplay, Verstappen acknowledges that he cannot be dissatisfied with the results so far. "We have maxed out very often, of course, we were also lucky a few times but we also had some bad luck," explains the Dutchman. "Overall, of course, I can be satisfied with that."

Yet there are also areas for improvement: for example, Ferrari has often proved unbeatable over a single lap this season, with the Italian racing team usually running away with pole position. "For me, what matters is that we improve the car and we are working hard on that," Verstappen continued. "It does show that we are still a bit short on pure pace."

Making as few mistakes as possible and taking maximum points where possible has compensated for that lack of lap speed, but the championship leader stresses that Red Bull Racing still has work to do to make strides in that area.
