McLaren has launched an investigation into an employee who sent hateful messages about Lewis Hamilton online. The employee's account has been deleted, but what McLaren will do is still unclear.

On Twitter, Tweets from one Katie Cumper stood out. Cumper expressed negative views about Hamilton several times on Twitter and Facebook. For example, Hamilton was said to have been especially lucky with his world titles, according to Cumper, Lewis was acting out after the crash with Max Verstappen at Monza, and she reacted furiously that Hamilton was being knighted.

These Tweets particularly stood out after a Twitter user discovered that this was an employee of McLaren. A response to those Tweets then asked McLaren if this was okay? Hamilton is a former McLaren driver and won his first world title with the team in 2008. In 2013, he traded McLaren for Mercedes.

Cumper's Tweets have since been deleted, but screenshots of the Tweets are still available. McLaren reacted with shock, stating in a response that these comments are totally out of keeping with McLaren's values and culture. ' 'We take the matter extremely seriously and are investigating it as a priority,'' the team's statement concludes.
