Charles Leclerc grabbed his first 'Grand Slam' in his Formula One career Sunday afternoon. The Ferrari driver already had the fastest lap in his hands in the closing stages, but asked his team if he had permission to set an even sharper time to be sure of the extra World Cup point. The Italian pit wall reacted negatively, but Leclerc did it anyway. Jan Lammers doesn't really get it.

Perez was only one or two tenths slower than Leclerc's fastest time at the time. The Monegasque didn't want to let that fastest time be taken away from him, so he added another scoop. Scoop? Scoop!

In the last lap Leclerc, with tires that are already dozens of laps old, suddenly manages to set a lap that is a second faster than Perez. "Of course you shouldn't really do that. If Red Bull is under the impression that they are four or ten tenths short, then of course they are going to do something about it. But if they see that they are a second short, then they call the race heads together. Then they have to pull out all the stops, because then you have a huge problem," said Lammers.

Lammers critical of Leclerc

At NOS Studio Sport, the former Formula 1 driver tells us that it is not smart to show your muscle in this way. "It's an unwritten law that you don't make the competition any wiser than they already are and so I actually thought it was unwise. When you're paying those guys tens of millions of euros, it's also kind of nice if they listen to you."
