Verstappen not worried about FIA report: "They can't do anything"

Max Verstappen, after a nerve-wracking season, managed to capture his first-ever world title in the final round of the last Grand Prix at the expense of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. The Dutchman is obviously overjoyed with his title, but hopes not to have such an intense season every year.

Intense and nerve-racking races

In an interview with The Guardian, Verstappen looked back on the season admitting that he was exhausted after the season ended. The Dutchman had a year full of intense and nerve-wracking races. "You can't have that drama every year, that's for sure. It's not good for me." Nor is it healthy for everyone in the team, according to the Dutchman.

Helmut Marko even suggested last week that Verstappen's career would be a lot shorter if the Dutchman had to endure more seasons like this. Verstappen himself, however, does not seem to be worried about this. According to the Red Bul Racing driver, his life has not changed since he became world champion and he prefers to be at home doing the things he did before he became champion, such as sim racing.

Verstappen not afraid of FIA report

After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, with the controversial race control decisions around the safety car, Mercedes appealed the result. Verstappen himself, however, was not afraid that his title would be taken away from him. He did regret that the final decision took a long time. He had to wait all night for the result.

The FIA is currently investigating the course of events surrounding the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but Verstappen is not worried about that either. "They can't do anything," the Dutchman remains sober. As such, he doesn't think the controversy overshadows his title at all. "I've had a very good season and I think I really deserved it. I've also had some really bad luck. People always remember the last race, but if you look at the whole season, the championship should have been decided much earlier."
