Today marks the fourth stage of the Dakar Rally 2022. The route runs from Al Qaisumah to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and covers no less than 707 kilometres. It also contains the longest special stage of this edition at 465 kilometres. Meanwhile, the first results have arrived, and will be completed during the day.

Motorcycle Results

As usual the motorcycles started the stage early. This is also the first category for which the results are in. Joan Barreda Bort took his second victory of the day and rode the fastest time during almost the entire stage. He left Pablo Quintanilla behind, followed by MotoGP rider Danilo Petrucci who finished a fine third despite a broken ankle.

Car Results

Yazeed Al-Rajhi was the fastest man of the session, but he lost his victory due to a time penalty. Nasser Al-Attiyah thus achieves his third stage victory during this edition of the Dakar Rally. Sebastien Loeb lost precious minutes yesterday, but finishes this stage in second place after Al-Rajhi's time penalty. The Frenchman has come a lot closer compared to yesterday. He finished stage three half an hour after the winner, but today Al-Attiyah's lead was only 25 seconds. Carlos Sainz finished third this stage, limiting the damage in the general classification.

Quad Results

The fourth stage ended for the quads with a victory for Russia's Aleksandr Maksimov. Manuel Andujar won the second stage, but had to settle for second place today. Alexandre Giroud crossed the finish line in third place after finishing second yesterday.

SSV Results

Rodrigo Luppi de Oliveira could breathe a sigh of relief after the fourth stage. The Brazilian was given a time penalty of 1 minute, but nevertheless he won the fourth stage. The difference with number two Austin Jones was minimal: only 10 seconds. At 49 seconds from the winner, the Pole Michal Goczal crossed the line in third.

Truck Results

The Russian KAMAZ team continues to dominate Dakar. This time it was Eduard Nikolaev who won, ahead of his teammates Shibalov (difference 3 minutes 35) and Sotnikov. Karginov, also from KAMAZ, had a dramatic day. Until the stage he was third. Due to a defect, he stood still for almost an hour and a half, which means a plunge in the standings.
