Webber adores Verstappen: 'He is great'

Max Verstappen showed last season that Lewis Hamilton is not unbeatable. The Dutchman scored more points in the world championship than his rival and was, therefore, the big winner of the race year. According to Mark Webber, the Formula 1 world should enjoy his qualities.

For years those working with Verstappen have been saying he has everything it takes to grab the world title in the coming years. Although he failed to show it before 2021, he defied criticism last season. Verstappen proved able to handle the pressure from Hamilton and crowned himself world champion in the final round at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Webber not only enjoyed the final race but also found the GP in the Netherlands a great success. "It was amazing for motorsports and also a new standard for Formula 1," he said in conversation with Channel 4. The former driver is impressed by Verstappen. "These drivers come around once every ten years. He is great! The sport should cherish him."

Red Bull gets compliments because of confidence

Next, Webber also has positive words for Red Bull Racing. The Austrian racing stable took Verstappen out of karting years ago and gave him the confidence he needed to grow in Formula 1. The Australian therefore feels that Red Bull also plays an important role in the current successes.
