Horner analyses: 'Biggest sporting event in the world this year'

Max Verstappen has been world champion for two weeks now, but Christian Horner is still enjoying the last race in Abu Dhabi. The team boss saw how the Dutchman drove past Lewis Hamilton on the last lap and took the world championship.

It was the first time since 2013 that Red Bull Racing won a world championship. Eight years ago, Sebastian Vettel was the best driver in the series but for many years Mercedes dominated the race. "I don’t think even a Hollywood scriptwriter could have come up with the ins and outs of this year," Horner stated, noting that Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali should be happy with the events. "He’s probably got the biggest sporting event in the world this year as the finale."

Red Bull may get new competition

Next season Horner will face a new challenge. Because of the changes to the cars, it will be up to Red Bull to once again compete with the top teams in Formula 1.
